|State Cars; 1948 Daimler DE36 All Weather Tourer
This car was order by the royal household in 1948 and delivered in early 1949.
The Palace requested shaped front seats in case King George VI wished to drive himself. Also, a slim clock was fitted to the rear division.
It was silver grey in colour with blue leather trim, and the car was said to have been a great favourite of King George VI.
After his death, it was repainted in the Royal colours and used by The Queen until 1957. It was sold to the government of Queensland, Australia, for the forthcoming tour by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, after which it was sold to a private buyer.
Now has the registration 33038-H NSW HISTORIC VEHICLE
